The $24.6m Gladstone Emergency Department features state-of-the-art facilities over three-stories, linking to the existing hospital building. Woollam was engaged by Queensland Health to deliver the project, to ultimately support and relieve pressure on the regional health services. The works included the construction of the new building, a medical records storage facility and all associated ambulance ramps, footpaths, roadworks and landscaping.
Working within an operating hospital environment throughout the global pandemic presented a unique set of challenges and potential risks. The Woollam team was able to successfully overcome the challenges through exceptional communication and planning. Upholding the highest safety standards and reducing impact on hospital staff and visitors was paramount.
